A PLANNING application for a brand new 224 bedroom aparthotel in Manchester city centre has been submitted to the local city council.
The island plot for the nine storey building is bounded by Mason Street, Addington Street, Cable Street and Cross Keys Street in the north east of the city, close to the large NOMA development.
Dublin-based Staycity is named as the planned operator for the aparthotel in planning documents for the scheme, which would replace a 1200 sq metre car park in the north east of the city.
The application from developer CEPF II Mason Street Developments Limited says there “is a clear need to further expand and diversify stock in terms of quantum and offer type to keep pace with the future growth of the tourism industry in Manchester which is anticipated, and help the city to compete for tourism and business requirements on an international stage.”
A new 114 bed aparthotel from Roomzzz at the former Corn Exchange in Manchester is due to open in Spring 2018.
