The Snovember madness which is currently gripping the country and grinding roads and public transport to a shuddering halt got me wondering…
What’s the coldest it has ever been in the UK?
Well, according to the Met Office, temperatures have sunk as low as -27.2 degrees celsius in Scotland, -23.3 degrees celsius in Wales and -26.1 degrees celcius in England. The lowest temperature recorded in Northern Ireland was a comparatively mild -17.5 degrees celsius.
England’s coldest day on record came in 1982 and was recorded in Shropshire. We don’t have any apartments listed there but we do have a great selection of serviced apartments in Birmingham next door – all of which are cosy and warm this winter.
